DXrobot - Gouda - The Netherlands
Automatic 144MHz E-skip Warnings via Email
How does it work?
- Every 5 minutes, the DXrobot retrieves the
latest DX spots from the world wide DX Cluster. After that the robot scans all the spots for any
E-skip related text (for example the
word "sporadic" or "Es", etc.).
If the number of E-skip related spots per time interval exceeds a certain
threshold, then the DXrobot will immediately post a short warning email to
the E-skip warning mailinglist. In this way, all persons on the mailinglist are immediately
informed about Es openings on the 144 MHz bands!
That's cool! Now how can I subscribe to the mailinglist?
- Click here to start the mailinglist manager. Then select the list named "eskip".
Will I receive any other email via this mailinglist?
- No. Only the DXrobot can post warning messages to the
mailinglist, and no one
else. So you won't receive any spam either.
Can I use my mobile phone to receive the E-skip warnings?
- The warning message that is sent is very short. This makes it possible to
be handled as a SMS message. Most modern mobile phones can receive short
emails via SMS. In this way you can receive the E-skip warnings at any
time, even when your
computer is off-line! Contact your telephone network provider for details on
setting up your mobile phone's email account. Then subscribe your phone's emailaddress
to
the mailinglist as described above.
Note: The DXrobot itself is free, but your telephone provider may charge you
a small amount for each email received on your mobile phone.
What happens to the emailaddress(es) I supply?
- Almost nothing, they will only be placed on the
mailinglist. Your emailaddress will not be given away to anybody. Even other
DXrobot users have no access to the list.
